Description of services:

The Parliamentary Education Office provides dynamic, accessible programs and resources for teachers and students across Australia. An excursion with the PEO will provide an interactive, immersive experience where students explore the role of the Australian Parliament and the citizen in Australia’s democratic system. Our excursions support teachers to deliver civics and citizenship education, and are aligned with the Australian Curriculum.

Most popular excursions:

Excursion 1: Parliament in your classroom

Over two sessions, students are taken on a journey through democracy, becoming Members of Parliament and making decisions on the issues that affect their local community.

During the first session, students explore concepts of representation, including why and how people are elected to the Parliament.

In the second session, students become Members of Parliament, and are given the responsibility to debate and decide on the laws they think are needed for their community and Australia as a whole.
